Where To Stay: Bardstown’s Historic Hotels, Motels and B&Bs
The history of Bardstown comes to life in the destination’s museums, distilleries and architecture. But for those who want to immerse themselves even deeper in Bardstown’s rich heritage, there are several places to choose from. Whether you want to book a room in a restored farmhouse or in a former jailhouse, these spots offer comfort and historic ambiance in equal measure.

Talbott Inn
The Old Talbott Tavern, located in the heart of Bardstown’s Historic District is one of the destination’s true gems — and one of the best restaurants in the area. But that’s not all. Just steps away on Court Square, you can stay at the Talbott Inn, offering several well-appointed guest rooms in a restored 1913 building. You’ll be in good company — back in the 19th century the Talbott Tavern played host to such legendary figures as Stephen Foster and Jesse James. Be sure to head upstairs at the Tavern to check out the bullet holes that Jesse left behind in one of the murals.

Jailer’s Inn Bed & Breakfast
And speaking of outlaws … the Jailer’s Inn Bed & Breakfast, also located in Bardstown’s Historic District, offers the chance to spend the night in jail. But Jesse James definitely never enjoyed a jail like this! The owners have transformed the Old Nelson County Jail (a spot whose history stretches back to 1897) into a charming B&B, complete with Victorian-era décor and all the comforts of home. The full breakfast, served each morning in a sunny courtyard, is better than any meal a prisoner got back then, too!

The Homestead at Log Still Distillery Bed & Breakfast
Historic luxury in the scenic Kentucky Countryside! Located in a wonderfully preserved farmhouse on the Log Still Distillery campus in nearby Gethsemane, the Homestead’s guest suites overlook a beautiful lake. It also offers guests easy access to everything Log Still has to offer, from the distillery itself to the popular music venue known as The Amp, which hosts concerts from nationally known artists every year from May through October.

Bardstown Motor Lodge
If mid-century modern design is your thing, you’re going to like the Bardstown Motor Lodge. It’s recently been re-imagined and re-designed by the Common Bond Hotel Collection, taking what was once a classic roadside motel opened in the late 1950s and transforming it into something extraordinarily cool. With an irresistible retro-style flavor, a stylish pool, and one of Bardstown’s most acclaimed restaurants on-site, the Motor Lodge is seriously hip.

Bourbon Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn
Located in a gorgeous Greek Revival Manor that was built in the 1820s, Bourbon Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn is far from your average B&B. The recipient of a painstaking $350,000 restoration from co-owners Todd Allen and Tyler Horton, this is a stunner from check-in to check-out, thanks to its carefully curated amenities, country gourmet breakfast, antique furnishings and more. Even better, the guests-only spa delivers a pure shot of Bourbon Country wellness.

Springhill Plantation B&B & Winery
Bardstown isn’t all about bourbon. We’ve also got wineries! And you can enjoy a stay at one of those wineries. Springhill Plantation, located on the grounds of a circa 1857 estate, boasts an on-site winery, which has been newly renovated and offers guests complimentary tastings. When you’re not sipping, you’ll be relaxing in spacious suites (with names like Merlot, Rosé and Pinot Noir), each of which feature period-appropriate furnishings and décor.
