Kentucky’s fall hunting season is always eagerly anticipated by sportsmen in search of wild game.  This year, Bardstown’s Log Still Distillery will bring a new tradition when it partners with Remington Ammunition to launch its Reserve Bourbon, appropriately called “Open Season.”

To introduce this unique partnership, Remington Reserve Weekend will be held at the distillery over three-days (October 10, 11, 12) to celebrate the spirit of the hunt, the taste of tradition and the passion for bourbon.

The weekend will kick off Friday, October 10th at 6:30 p.m. with the Remington Reserve Dinner which will showcase bold flavors and open-fire traditions (a whole roasted pig, along with barrel-stave smoked brisket and turkey will be featured, accompanied by an assortment of mouth-watering sides and desserts).

The $150 per person price tag covers admission to both the dinner and a concert by the Eli Young Band, which will be held under the stars at The Amp on distillery grounds Saturday, October 11th at 7:00 p.m..

The inaugural weekend will conclude on Sunday, October 12th with a sporting clay shoot from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Registration (required) will be on a first come, first served basis as spots are limited.

All guests attending this celebration of bourbon, food, music and the great outdoors are invited to stay onsite at the distillery in one of their Bed & Breakfast properties, ranging from a beautifully appointed farmhouse to a lakeside cabin.

The weekend events will serve to introduce the partnership between Log Still Distillery, the family-owned distillery which offers premium spirits including bourbon, gin and Tennessee whiskey, and Remington, the ammunition company which has been a trusted name for generations of hunters and shooters since its founding in 1816.

“We knew our collaboration had to honor Remington’s legacy,” says Wally Dant, founder of Log Still Distillery.  “Together, we shaped a bourbon that balances strength and smoothness – just like the moments it’s meant to celebrate.”

The result was Remington Reserve Bourbon – Open Season.  Bottled at 86 proof, it blends hand-selected Kentucky and Tennessee bourbons designed for sipping around a fire after a day in the field.  The bourbon’s full-bodied flavor is a mix of sweetness, layered fruit notes and oak depth, with tasting notes referring to sweet almond, toasted grain, fresh apple, and a hint of brown sugar.  A complex bourbon, It combines earthy oak and warm spice with whispers of summer berries and a touch of honey.  This combination results in a smooth, mellow finish reminiscent of the final glowing embers of a campfire.

Denise Ingle, Log Still’s Chief Brand and Strategy Officer, sums it up by saying, “this bourbon brings to mind moments we share with our cherished ones and keeps memories of those moments alive in a bottle.”

A press release put out by Log Still describes the bourbon as crafted for those who rise before the sun, wait patiently in the woods, and celebrate a day well spent with a good story and a better pour.

Remington Reserve “Open Season” will be available for tasting and purchase at Log Still Distillery.  Suggested retail price is $39.99 - $44.99.
