Now that the snow has melted, the ice has thawed and the warm sunny days have returned, it’s time to venture out and enjoy something new. Even if a visit to Bardstown is a familiar occurrence, our upcoming events are a fresh experience for everyone. Spring is already in the air, and there are few places to drink it in that are as magical and captivating as Bardstown, Kentucky.
During the last four days of April, the Bourbon Capital of the World will celebrate bourbon cocktails in all of their glory at the first-ever Cocktail Week. New concoctions will be prevalent and local cuisine will feature innovative pairings between distilleries and restaurants as the town dives head first into festivities for our favorite drink—bourbon.
Mixed Drink Challenge
Events like the Mixed Drink Challenge, which is an Official Kentucky Bourbon Festival event, will feature bartenders’ best bourbon beverages. To celebrate the festival’s 25th anniversary bartenders will focus on sparkling bourbon cocktails. You’ll get to sample from all of them, and the winner’s recipe will be deemed the Official 2016 Festival Cocktail of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival held in September.
The week will wrap with the Bardstown Sampler – which is also a Kentucky Bourbon Festival event. Bourbon fans will have the opportunity to learn about and sample Kentucky bourbons. You’ll pick up bourbon glasses and bid on bourbon-related items. Whether you’re a purist, or looking to try something different, your favorite Kentucky distillers will have something for everyone.
Over the next few months, Bardstown will be alive with the sights and sounds of our vibrant small town. Anytime is a good time for bourbon fans to visit, but there is no better remedy for cabin fever than a springtime visit to the Bourbon Capital of the World.
